NEXXUS LIGHTING HIRES NEW DIRECTOR OF R&D / ENGINEERING

Charlotte, NC – June 26, 2009 – Nexxus Lighting, Inc. (NASDAQ Capital Market: NEXS) today announced that Kevin Carpenter has joined the Company as its new Director of Research & Development / Engineering effective July 13, 2009.
Prior to joining the Nexxus Lighting management team, Mr. Carpenter served as Engineering Program Manager for GE Lumination, LLC overseeing design, product development and launch of solid-state LED lighting products for the architecture, signage and general lighting markets.
With over 14 years of experience in the lighting and automotive industry, Mr. Carpenter served as Engineering Manager for Magna Donnelly from 2003 to 2006 and in several engineering roles at Delphi Corporation for 1995 to 2003.
“Kevin brings a broad and diverse background to Nexxus Lighting in both product development and project management of solid-state lighting systems,” stated Mike Bauer, Nexxus Lighting’s President and CEO. “Kevin has demonstrated a strong technical base as well as solid management experience throughout his career and we look forward to having him lead our product development and R&D efforts as we continue to expand our product offering, including our new Array™ Lighting LED replacement lamps,” concluded Mr. Bauer.
Mr. Carpenter holds a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from Morehouse College, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering from Youngstown State University and an MBA from Case Western University in Cleveland.
